A Security Model for Object-Oriented Databases

چکیده
The Integration of object-oriented programming concepts with databases IS one of the most significant advances In the evolutlon of database systems and several recent pro}ects are developing object-oriented databases Among the many Issues brought along by this combination, one that IS becoming important ISthe protection of information We develop here an authorization model for objectorlented databases. This model consists of a set of pohcies, a structure for authorization rules, and an algorithm to evaluate access requests against the authorization rules For concreteness we use a speclflc database system to illustrate our model, but Its concepts are applicable to a range of ob)ect-ortented databases

متن کاملView Concepts for Object-Oriented Databases
We present a concept to introduce external models in object-oriented databases to regain the traditional three level architecture of database systems consisting of an internal, a conceptual and several external models. In contrast to other approaches our concept takes into account all traditional features of external models such as submodeling, interfacing application programs and databases, lo...

In an earlier paper [3], Jajodia and Kogan proposed a message lter approach to enforcing mandatory security in multilevel object-oriented databases. The key idea in the message lter model is that all information exchange be permitted solely through messages and that security be enforced by a message lter component that mediates these messages. In a recent paper [8] the authors proposed a kernel...
متن کاملRules for Designing Multilevel Object-Oriented Databases
When implementing a multilevel security policy for Object-Oriented Databases (OODBs), several aspects have to be investigated. One of these aspect is the design of multilevel OODBs. In an OODB, data are organized in a complex structure built using different constructs (classes, objects, attributes, links ...). Therefore, a first problem is to determine what constructs of the object-oriented mod...
متن کاملA Security Model for Multi - level Object - Oriented DatabasesBased on
In this paper, we employ the view model given by Bertino to propose a new design approach for a secure multi-level object-oriented database system. The central idea is to provide the user with a multi-level view derived from a single-level secure object-oriented database. Hence the database operations performed on the multi-level views are decomposed into a set of operations on the single-level...
